072 Science has done much in proving many things which the majority of the people of the world previously refused to accept. It has proven, for instance, that all forms are made up of cells which are composed of the same elements as the earth, air and water. It has revealed the fact that the human body is no different in composition than any other form in the mineral, vegetable, or animal kingdom. These cells or atoms of matter possess a certain amount of intelligence and are actually little entities not unlike the human being, but the world has not easily accepted the belief that a particle too small to be seen without the aid of a microscope can be the possessor of a mind, or intelligence. Science has now brought forth the proof of this. It speaks of living and disintegrating atoms of matter, and in working with these tiny cells it has learned to release a form of energy from the atom which is seen as a ray of light. One professor of science has spoken of this as the soul of the atom, which certainly implies intelligence.
072 科学はかつては世の中の大多数の人々が受け入れを拒絶した多くの物事を立証して来ました。科学は例えば全ての形あるものが、地面と空気、水と同じ元素からなる細胞から成り立っていることを証明しました。それは人体が鉱物や植物あるいは動物の王国における他の形あるものと組成において何らの違いが無いという事実を明らかにしたのです。これらの細胞や物質の原子は幾分かの知性を持ち、実際には人間とさほど違いが無い小さい実体なのですが、世間は顕微鏡の助け無しには小さすぎて目に見えない粒子が心や知性の所有者であり得るとの確信を受け入れることが出来ないでいます。しかし、科学はこの証拠を提出しています。科学は物質の原子の生存と分解の状態について語っており、これら微細な細胞について研究する中で、これら細胞が光線として見られるような原子からのエネルギーを放出することを学んで来ました。科学のある教授はこのことを、原子の魂と表現しましたが、それは確かに知性を暗示させるものです。
【解説】
化学の授業の中で原子の発光が電子がそのエネルギーレベルを一段下げる際に発することを習った記憶がありますが、本項にもそれに似た事柄が記されています。これは光の話題ですが、私達の身近なものとすれば太陽の光であり、物が燃える際の光の輝きの背後にある現象を意味しています。
とかく私達は目に見えるだけの現象に囚われがちですが、実際にはそれら現象の奥には肉眼で判別できない繊細微小な世界があり、それらが整然と法則に従った活動をしている訳です。
私達自身についても、私達はほとんど何も知ることなく、一生を終えるかも知れませんが、その生命活動は他の生き物と何ら変わることのない構成となっています。
重要な点は、目に見えない微細世界では各々の塊や粒子が各々の使命を果たし、嬉々として生きているということです。各々には知性があり、家主（人間）の為に一生懸命働いているということです。そしてそれらは互いに意思疎通を果たし、やがては宇宙普遍の想念波動に調和できているということです。
